Update 21st October

KING HARMON QUALIFIERS - The third and final qualifier competition for the matchplay rounds of the King Harmon Cup took place on Sunday the 20th of October. Conditions were very good overhead again this week, but wetter underfoot this week, proving tricky even with the benefit of placing, so the scores this week were not quite as high as last week’s. Tommy King was this weeks winner with 38 points, just eclipsing Tom Kearney on countback. Lorcan Egan took the gross - he had 36 points as did Michael McHale who came 3rd.
The 4 quarter final match-ups are as follows - Lorcan Egan vs Gerry Carty, Padraic O’Connell vs David Wynne, Liam Mullaney vs Michael McHale, and Sean Heslin vs Brendan Gaffney.

FIXTURES - Over the Bank Holiday weekend there will be a fundraiser Fourball Shambles team event. Please support.

Update 14th October

KING HARMON QUALIFIERS - The second qualifier competition took place on Sunday the 13th of October. The top 8 scorers from the series of qualifiers (aggregate of their 2 best cards over the 3 weeks) go through to the knockout stages of the King Harmon Cup. Conditions were excellent overhead with placing underfoot, resulting in some high scores which will most likely influence the overall aggregates. Padraig O’Connell was this weeks winner, and his impressive 44 points gives him a real chance of qualifying. Brendan Gaffney was second with 41, which in addition to his 38 from last week almost certainly secures him a place in the final 8. Other significant movers this week were 3rd placed Michael McHale on 39 points, followed by defending champion Mark Whelan’s 38. There are a number of players tightly bunched on similar aggregates so next weeks competition will be keenly contested.

FIXTURES - Our Winter 9 hole Stableford continues on a weekly basis throughout October, playable any day. If there is sufficient interest it will be continued throughout the winter either as a rolling weekly or monthly competition.

AGMs - The AGM of the mens’ club takes place on Sunday the 10th of November, with the ladies’ on the following Sunday (the 17th of November). The overall club AGM, the “management AGM” , will take place on Sunday the 1st of December. All the meetings take place in the clubhouse at 5pm on the relevant dates. Members are welcome to put motions forward for the AGMs, proposal slips are available below the main noticeboard in the front hall. Update 7th October

GOLFER OF THE YEAR - Well done to Sean Heslin who has claimed the mens’ club’s “Golfer of the Year” title. Sean had been lurking just below the top of the table for several months but a fine win in last Sunday’s 18 hole Stableford saw him leapfrog his rivals into the top spot. I have been “reliably” informed that Sean attributes his win to the many kind words of encouragement he enjoys from his golfing partners every Sunday.

KING HARMON QUALIFIERS - Charlie O’Donnell and Gerry Carty are in pole position after the first of the 3 King Harmon Qualifiers, both having 39 points, Charlie winning this round on countback. The top 8 scorers ( aggregate of their 2 best cards) go through to the knockout stages of the King Harmon Cup, so Charlie and Gerry are off to a good start, as are gross prize winner Brendan Gaffney and 3rd placed Sean Heslin, both with 38 points. The remaining qualifying competitions take place over the next 2 Sundays.

FIXTURES - Our Winter 9 hole Stableford continues on a weekly basis throughout October, playable any day. If there is sufficient interest it will be continued throughout the winter either as a rolling weekly or monthly competition.
