RESULTS - The
second round of this year's King Harmon was played on Sunday the 14th of
October as an 18 hole stableford. There is a new format applying to this
competition for 2018, consisting of 3 rounds of 18 hole stableford
being played over the first three weekends in October with a players best
two cards of the three weeks counting for his final score. The top
eight scorers will then face off in three rounds of matchplay to decide an
overall winner.
The best score
this week was Sean Heslin's 39 points, with Gerard O'Dowd taking
second place with 38, and Lorcan Egan taking the third spot with 37
points. This puts Sean Heslin top of the leaderboard for now, but there is still
one more round to play next weekend to decide who will be the last eight
men standing for the "knockout" rounds.
GOLFER OF THE
YEAR 2018 - Well done to Tom Kearney who is this years "Golfer of the
Year". Tom had had a great year with several wins and podium places and
these have all contributed to his cumulative points total in the overall order
of merit used to decide the year's best golfer. He may well add another title
to the collection for 2018 as he is still very much in with a chance in the
King Harmon Cup.
FIXTURES – The Winter 9 hole competition is now up and
running. The format is a 9 hole stableford running Monday to Saturday
inclusive on a weekly basis, entry is 5 euro, re-entry is 3 euro. This
competition runs throughout the winter, weather and course conditions permitting.
