RESULTS - David
Wynne was the winner of the 18 hole Stableford competition played on the
weekend of the 20th of October with 41 points. Second place went to
Captain Terry Canning with 40 points and Paul Connolly
took the third spot with 37 points. Patrick Egan claimed the prize for
best gross score.
This competition doubled up as the final of the qualifying
rounds for the King Harmon matchplay competition and the final 8 have
now been decided on as well as the "match-ups". This is where
proceedings become interesting, with 3 rounds of "knockout"
matchplay. The quarter-finals will consist of the following matches
: Sean Heslin vs Mark Whelan, David Wynne vs Liam Mullaney,
Terry Canning vs Paul Connolly, Brendan Gaffney vs Dave Purser. Well done to
new member Mark Whelan on continuing to put together some solid rounds of golf
and making the knockout rounds. These matches can be played any day of the
week but have to be completed before Monday the 5th of November, otherwise
a coin toss will decide any unplayed matches. The semi-finals will be played
within the following week and the final the week after that.
Our Winter 9 hole competition is proving very popular. The
winners of the first 3 weeks are , respectively, Charlie O'Donnell, Michael
Rush and Liam Mullaney.
FIXTURES - The
competition for the Bank Holiday Weekend is the "Drumderrig
Cup" which will be played as a Fourball Shambles. Many thanks to
Paula Cull of Drumderrig Nursing Home for sponsoring. The competition can be
played on the Saturday, Sunday or Monday and can be re-entered if desired.
The mens'
Winter 9 hole is ongoing on a weekly basis and can be played any day from
Monday to Saturday.
ANNUAL GENERAL
MEETING - The AGM for the mens' section takes place on Sunday the 11th of
November at 5 pm in the clubhouse.
