GOLFER OF THE YEAR - As of the 1st September, the leading contender for Golfer of the Year is still Pat Conroy with 88 points on the order of merit, but only by 7 points now as Charlie O'Donnell has leapfrogged Jim Callery into second place with Jim now lying 3rd with 78. The next 3 contenders are Vincent Egan, CiarĂ¡n Beirne and Mark O'Donohoe with 73, 71 and 71 respectively.

RESULTS - The men played an 18 hole vpar competition on the weekend of the 27th and 28th, which was won by Ciaran Beirne with 5 up, just beating Tadhg Lowe on countback. Charlie O'Donnell was 3rd with 3 up.

FIXTURES - The Mens Thursday Competition continues this week. Sponsors are still sought for the remaining weeks.

Next Sunday the 11th of September there will be an 18 hole stableford for the men.

INTERCLUBS -  : Well done to Niall Kearney's Connacht Shield team who chalked up another win, this time against Swinford Golf Club. Boyle had 3 games at home and 2 away, but were under pressure when they lost one of the home games. Thankfully Shane O'Dowd and Cillian Doyle hit a good run of form playing in Swinford and claimed a win in an away game to cancel the home loss. Boyle went on to win 2 more games at home in Boyle to seal the overall win, thus progressing to the next round of the Connacht Shield tournament.
