LADY PRESIDENT'S DAY - Susan O'Mahoney's Lady President's Day was held on Sunday the 21st. The ladies competed for her prize in the usual 18 hole Strokeplay format with the prize-giving taking place in the clubhouse that evening. Susan paid tribute in her speech to all those who had contributed to both the Ladies section and the overall club during the year.

First place this year went to Maura O'Farrell, who was particularly delighted with her win having taken a break from the game for an extended period in recent years.

2nd Kathleen Mahon, Gross Tish Perry, 3rd Joey Mullaney. Past President Moira Egan. Front 9 Catherine Roddy. Back 9 Caroline Carty. Category winners - Therese O Daly, Mandy Toolan, Mary O'Hara.

The winners of the Mens Thursday Competition held on the 18th were :

1st Dessie Murphy 28 points,  2nd Martin Sweeney 26, 3rd Liam Mullaney 25.

Cillian Doyle won the 2s club.

FIXTURES - This coming Wednesday evening (the 24th) sees the last of the very popular series of Ladies Summer Scrambles.

The Mens Thursday Competition continues as a 12 hole competition this week. Sponsors are still sought for the remaining weeks.

INTERCLUBS - Well done to our Connacht Shield team captained by Niall Kearney who had a tight win over our neighbours in Ballaghaderreen Golf Club. Boyle had won 2 of the games at home comfortably and had lost the 2 away games in Ballaghaderreen, so the deciding game was the last one in Boyle where Terry Canning and Charlie O'Donnell were all square after the first 18 holes, thus proceeding to a "sudden death" playoff. Terry and Charlie eventually prevailed after 20 holes of golf, clinching the overall result for Boyle. The team pairings were :

Adrian King and Brendan Gaffney, Terry Canning and Charlie O'Donnell, Lee McKillen and Lochlainn Conboy, Tom Kearney and Ciaran Beirne, Tadhg Lowe and Cillian Doyle. Best of luck in the next round.
