Golfer of the Year for 2021,
Jason Beirne, receiving his trophy from Mens’ Captain Jonathan Egan |
KING HARMON QUALIFIERS - Gabriel Lavin and Frank Flanagan put themselves in with a strong chance of qualification for the match play part of the King Harmon Cup in the first round. Both men had 42 points with Gabriel just edging it on countback. Lochlann Conboy came 3rd with 40 points. It was great to see some members from the Ladies’ club participate in the competition for the first time. The 2nd round was played on Sunday the 10th and the final qualifying round will be on the 17th, with the top 8 qualifying for the match play rounds ( not top 16 as stated elsewhere). A player’s best 2 cards from the 3 weekends are used for qualifying purposes.
AGMs - The Ladies’ Club AGM takes place on Sunday the 7th of November,
the Mens Club AGM on the 14th and the overall Club AGM (Management AGM) on
Sunday the 28th, all meetings start at 5pm in the clubhouse. Every member is
encouraged to attend both their respective Mens’/Ladies’ AGMs and the overall
club AGM. Motions to be discussed at an AGM must be with the respective
Secretary 7 days prior to the meeting, as must nominations to the committees.
Nominations must have a proposer and seconder and the person being nominated
has to have consented. New nominations are welcome to any of the 3 committees.
SOCIAL - Given the curtailed social life within the club in the past 2
years, some members have expressed an interest in a social evening for members
in the clubhouse in the weeks leading up to Christmas. We will be canvassing
interest soon to get an idea of numbers.
CONDOLENCES - At the recent committee meeting condolences were
expressed to the family of the late Mai Regan. Mai and her late husband Tommy
were both keen members of the club for several decades. Condolences were also
expressed to members Patti Dowd and Michael Simon on recent bereavements.
