Update 9th September

RESULTS - The King Cup 18 hole Stableford was played on Sunday the 8th of September, results to follow when available.
The mens’ 12 hole Stableford played on Thursday the of August saw a tie for first place, Sean Heslin and Lorcan Egan, both having 20 points, and the same countback tally. In third with 19 points was Paul Connolly and the 2’s club went to Patrick Egan. The sponsor was Lochlainn Conboy.
This Thursday the 12th sees what will probably be the last of this year's Thursday competitions, barring an “Indian Summer”. Gerry O’Hara is this weeks sponsor.

CONDOLENCES - Condolences are expressed to the Cull family on the passing of James Cull.

FIXTURES - The club has the honour of hosting this year’s Roscommon Cup on the 21st September. Online booking can be done in the week leading up to it and food will be available in the clubhouse on the day.

COURSE - Vincent Egan has kindly permitted the club to remove the fencing from his right of way through the course on a trial basis. It is hoped that this will evolve into a more long term arrangement.

CLUBHOUSE - Painting of clubhouse will commence shortly, weather permitting. Thanks are due to McLoughlin Memorials for sponsoring the paint.

HANDICAPS - A query was raised recently as to what exactly “c status” refers to re golf handicaps. The “c” seen after a players handicap refers to the fact that he has maintained a valid handicap for competition purposes by having played 3 qualifying competitions in the previous calendar year. A player without “c status” can enter competitions but is ineligible to win any prize until "c status" is regained. "C status" is regained by either playing in 3 qualifying competitions in the current year or applying to the club’s Handicap Committee advising of the circumstances that prevented you from competing in the previous year.
The club fully recognises the difficulties this rule poses for “occasional” players and we were not in favour of it being introduced, but the rule is unfortunately outside our control, being one made by the national golf unions. The rule is separate to the club’s own practice of requiring a specified number of cards in the current year to win one of the club “majors”.

AGM - The AGM of the overall “Management Committee” is planned for Sunday the 1st of December in the clubhouse. All member are both welcome and encouraged to attend. No dates have been set yet for the Men’s and Ladies Clubs’ AGMs, but they are anticipated to occur in November.
