Update 13th July

Open week finished on Sunday with an 18 hole stroke for Ladies and Gents. At the final presentation on Sunday evening Club Captains Sandra McCrann & Michael Rush thanked members and visitors for their great support. They specially thanked the sponsors for their generosity and asked members to give them their support. The Open Week and House Committees were thanked for a great week 

Thank-you to all the visitors who played with special thanks to Gertrude Crummy and the Strandhill Ladies who played on Friday. The groundsman Charlie Beirne was thanked for the great condition of the course with special mention for Michael Rush, Course Convenor Willie Tiernan and the course committee.

Mary was thanked for her excellent hospitality during the week and Vincent and Patrick were thanked for looking after the bar. Presentations were made to Ladies Captain Sandra McCrann, Mens Captain Michael Rush, Mary McDermott, and Jessica Rush.

A special presentation was made to Gary Carty for his Albatross at the Committee Cup and the Foursomes Shield was presented to winners Jonathan Egan & Seamus Gallagher. Results for the week as follows:

Monday: Nine Hole 1st Jonathan Egan (29.5), 2nd Shane O’Dowd (30), Gross Patrick Egan, 3rd Michael Simon (30) The ladies nine hole was won by Moira Egan, 2nd Paula Cull, 3rd Aisling Gaughran.

Tuesday: Ladies 18 hole was won by Ann Mullen 37pts, 2nd Attracta Keville 35pts, Gross Peggy Feely, 3rd Michelle Quinn 35pts, Visitor Anna Sheerin 32pts. The Mens nine hole was won by Niall Kearney 21pts, 2nd Paddy Nangle 21pts, 3rd Dave Purser 20pts, Visitor Fergus O ‘Beirne

Wednesday: Scotch Foursomes was won by Niall Kearney & Paul Cull (58), 62.5, 2nd Brendan & Susan Gaffney (60), 3rd Michael Rush & Sandra McCrann (62.5). Visitors Tommy & Ann Conlon. The nine hole results were 1st Lady Anna Sheerin 19pts, 1st Men Michael Costello 21pts, 2nd John Cryan 20pts, 3rd Trevor Mattimoe (Ballymote) 19pts, Visitor Paul O’Reilly (Ballymote)

Thursday: Mens 18 Hole Stroke was won by Cian Smith (60), 2nd Cillian Doyle (64), Gross Niall Kearney, 3rd John Kelly (65). Visitor Paddy Egan. Ladies Nine Hole was won by Eithne Gaffney (17), 2nd Tish Perry (17), 3rd Sandra McCrann (15). Visitor Mary Molloy.

Friday:  Mens Nine Hole 1st Tommy King 22pts, 2nd Cillian Doyle 21pts, 3rd Paddy Egan 21pts, Visitor Martin Hernan (Carrick-on-Shannon). Ladies nine hole 1st Mandy Toolan (18), 2nd Sandra McCrann (18), 3rd Christine Hannon (18), Visitor Deirdre O’Donoghue.

Saturday: Fourball Betterball was won by Vincent & Paddy Egan, 2nd Terry Bright & David Wynne, 3rd Patrick Egan & Martin Wynne. Ladies Team Liz Dwyer & Peggy Feely. Family Team Paddy & Sean McLoughlin.  Visitor Michael & Seamus Connolly.

Sunday: 18 hole stroke was won by Cillian Doyle (63), 2nd Gary Carty (61), Gross John McGuinn, 3rd Shane Loftus 64 (63).Ladies 18 Hole was won by Tish Perry, 3rd year on the trot, 2nd Moira Egan, Gross Ogie Moran Ballaghdereen, 3rd Susan Gaffney. The raffle hamper was won by Seamus Gallagher, 2nd Prize Mandy Toolan, 3rd Attracta Keville

Competitions for this week are the Mens Competition on Thursday, and a nine hole scramble on Friday. Next weekend, Saturday & Sunday is Boyle Traders Weekend. Format is three ball shambles. Entry €15.00 per person. Re-entry €5.00. Date for your diary is the Boyle Arts Festival  Open on Saturday 25th July. Format is 18 Hole Stableford. Entry €7.00.

In Interclub news good luck to our Jack O’Sullivan Team who play Rosses Point on Thursday, our Cecil Ewing Team who play Enniscrone on Saturday and our Connacht Shield Team who play Ballymote next Monday.

Golf lessons take place this Wednesday evening 6.30-7.30pm with PGA Professional Philip Murphy. The lesson run for six consecutive Wednesdays and are open to all golfers. Cost per lesson is €5.00 per person. Private lessons can be arranged by appointment. To book a place or for more information call 086 068 2116
